There are no blocks of rooms reserved for colloquium participants. Please make your own reservations by contacting the option of your choice and securing a room with your credit card. Generally, the earlier you book, the better the price (though modern marketing algorithms make generalizations of this sort tricky).
Options 1-3 are within a couple blocks of each other in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, within a few block of the colloquium venue at the Brooklyn Zen Center, and have easy access to the subway (R train at Union St.).
Option 1: Union Hotel (my recommendation)
This is a no-frills hotel, but the rooms, though small, are clean and comfortable (and there’s wifi). I recommend it.
- Book ASAP for the best rate (on Dec. 31, the best rate offered on the hotel’s website was $177/night — not including taxes — for the relevant June dates)
- Choice Hotels website or Union Hotel’s own website
Option 2: Holiday Inn Express
Just a couple blocks from the colloquium venue; basically a Holiday Inn Express with some added Brooklyn frump
Option 3: Fairfield Inn
Just a few blocks from the colloquium venue; a bit more upscale than options 1 and 2
Option 4: Go rogue
Find and book your own hotel, AirBnB, or bed & breakfast in Brooklyn or Lower Manhattan
- If you enter the address of the colloquium venue — 505 Carroll St., Brooklyn — you can gauge the distance to prospective hotels
- Subway is 20 minutes from downtown Brooklyn (30 minute walk); 30-40 minutes from Union Square in Manhattan (for example)
