DATES, TIMES, PLACES: The colloquium is held annually at the end of May/beginning of June. Events begin on the Thursday following Memorial Day and continue through the Saturday evening. The next colloquium is scheduled for May 28 – 30, 2009. Sessions are held on the Cornell campus.

TRAVEL: The Ithaca airport is served by USAirways Express and Northwest Airlines. The Syracuse airport (60 miles north) is served by several major carriers. There’s a shuttle van that transports passengers from Syracuse airport to Ithaca (cost is about $75 round trip). If you’re driving and need directions, contact Scott MacDonald. ACCOMMODATIONS: Accommodations are available in local hotels and bed-and-breakfasts. Colloquium participants should book their own accommodations. (See information about accommodations [to be posted].)

MEALS: Dinners: Thursday evening at Scott MacDonald’s house; Friday evening picnic at a local park; Saturday evening at a local Chinese restaurant. Lunches: we'll walk to nearby restaurants.

COSTS: A voluntary contribution of $50 covers the cost of the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening dinners and other colloquium expenses. Participants pay their own way at lunches.

PRESENTATIONS: If you’d like to make a presentation, please contact Scott MacDonald. Sessions are typically an hour and fifteen minutes in length. The objective is to reserve at least half an hour in each session for discussion. Presentations may, but needn’t, consist in the reading of a formal paper. Presentation of work-in-progress and directed, seminar style discussions are also welcome. Longer or shorter sessions may be arranged. There are no concurrent sessions.

ARRIVING IN ITHACA: Those who are interested may gather at 12:30pm on Thursday at the Philosophy Office (218 Goldwin Smith Hall). We'll walk to a nearby venue for lunch before the opening session. When you arrive in town you may register your presence by phoning Scott MacDonald’s cell phone(607-262-0721) or the Philosophy Office (607-255 3687). PARKING: If you’re coming by car and plan to park on campus, there are two options.

(1) Parking permits are available for the lot nearest Goldwin Smith (on University Avenue, behind Sibley Hall). Arrangements for parking permits should be made in advance (e-mail Scott MacDonald). The cost is approximately $15.

(2) You can park just off campus, on the street or in a public parking ramp. Since Cornell is not in session, on-street parking should be available. The best bets are Thurston Avenue (just north of campus) and Collegetown (just south). Most of the on-street parking is metered. There's a public parking ramp in Collegetown.
